The Ready, Steady, Cook Challenge Event

Take 150 delegates, a plenary session and 11 syndicates; a 2 day meeting, home counties location, really nothing out of the norm: until the syndicates need to be interrupted as there is a ‘Crisis in the Kitchen’!

The Chefs have gone on strike, the Kitchen’s are empty and 150 delegates need to be fed a three-course dinner.

Well, there is only one solution; they must cook it themselves. What a laugh we had, and what teamwork was achieved from an afternoon of, what was expected to be serious syndicate work, action packed activities for 11 teams including de-boning a chicken, baking their own bread rolls, designing their own restaurant name and creating the sign for it; designing their own table dressing, floral arrangements and on top of all this the preparation of a three course meal with en-croute dishes, choux pastry etc. A fantastic Cocktail demonstration preceded the dinner during which the awards were presented to the individual and team winners.
